Congressman James A. Leach was appointed by President Barack Obama to lead the National Endowment for the Humanities. On National History Day in June 2010, the Congressman provided an address at a university in Maryland, the agency’s website reports.

Leach told the publication that he sees the National Endowment for Humanities proceeding with a “bridging cultures” initiative in the United States and internationally.
